Getting a graduate degree abroad (MA/MS) can save you money and time, and the value of the experience is unparalleled. Most universities in
English speaking countries outside the U.S. offer a graduate degree in ONE year, as opposed to TWO years here in the U.S. What difference does that make? Well, for one, you will be paying one year of tuition as opposed to two years. This will save you tens of thousands of dollars. Second, you can start in the work force or continue on with your PhD a year earlier, either abroad or in the U.S. And finally, you will have international experience that will set you apart from others that completed all their studies in a traditional.

There are 200+ universities abroad that accept FAFSA financial aid for graduate school. You should apply for FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov regardless of your income level, since universities abroad determine financial assistance (and can offer grants and scholarships) based on this application.

Moreover, most universities abroad do not require standardized testing such as the GRE or GMAT. Another benefit is that the location may directly pertain to your study. For example, there is no better way to study Shakespearian Literature than in England and gain access to actual documents and on site visits.
Furthermore, graduate students will be able to collaborate with international classmates, work in a multi-cultural environment, and perhaps acquire a new language or dialect. International experience often opens doors forstudents to network and work for international companies in the future. The important points are to be adaptable and excel in your courses; and afterward, know how to relate the value of your foreign degree to potential employers.
